Joshua Jackson is unsurprised his former Dawson's Creek co-star Michelle Williams has gone on to become one of Hollywood's hottest actresses, because she had "the clearest idea" about her career as a teenager.
The pair starred alongside each other in the U.S. drama, which wrapped in 2003, and they both went on to appear in a string of movies.
Williams has achieved the most post-Dawson's Creek success, winning awards for her roles in films including Brokeback Mountain and Blue Valentine.
Her good fortune continued on Tuesday when she landed a Best Actress Oscars nomination for My Week with Marilyn - and Jackson admits he's proud of his pal.
He tells MTV News, "It's surreal in that it would be surreal to see any of your friends (up for an Oscar). It's amazing. She's an excellent actress.
"Of all of us, when we finished that show, she was the one who had the clearest idea about what it was that she wanted to do. To be able to go out and achieve that is no small feat. I just think it's wonderful."
