Mother of killed actress settles suit with Spector

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A lawyer says the mother of the actress Phil Spector was convicted of killing has settled her wrongful death suit against the legendary music producer.

Attorney John Taylor tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/yXWf34 ) the terms of Friday's settlement were confidential, but says his client, Donna Clarkson, is pleased and relieved the suit is over.

Lana Clarkson was shot and killed in the foyer of Spector's Alhambra mansion nine years ago.

Donna Clarkson attended the 2009 trial daily, and testified that her daughter was upbeat and not at all suicidal, as Spector's defense alleged.

Spector was convicted in the death and is serving a 19 years-to-life sentence.

Taylor says he signed off on the settlement.

Seems money can take care of anything. Someone killed my child, it wouldn't be settled till they were in the ground

I guess money was the only legal compensation she could seek. I agree with you,if someone killed one of my children I would be straight up homicidal.

A senseless murder by a very rich and famous pervert: I hope he was forced to settle plenty on the Mother.

This girl was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I believe her intentions were innocent. She was seeking recognition for talent from a renowned music producer. Unfortunately, helping this girl along in her career was the last thing on lunatic Spector's mind. She was too young and naive and did not see what was happening until it was too late.Sad...VERY sad.

Did she get an answer as to why she was killed ? It seems the money would not be worth it without answers.

As long as Spector thinks he has a chance at some sort of appeal, he will not spill the beans, so to speak. Even if he wanted to as in "confession is good for the soul', his lawyers would never permit it. In addition, I do not recall Spector ever voicing any regret anyway....just denials.

I agree that she deserves the money.I don`t believe it will bring her closure without the Answers as to how and why. She will probably never know as he has always blamed the victim.

She will never have her Daughter again except in the next life. And she deserves to get something out of it. Money will never bring her back but al least she gets money and closure. Good for her Mother. There would be nothing worse than losing your child no matter how old or how young. To out live you children or Grandchildren would be devastating. God comfort her and shine his warm loving light on the Mother. My condolences.... Amen
